ELENA SPRINTED DOWN THE BUSY CORRIDOR WITH A STRESSED LOOK ON HER FACE. She was supposed to be at an important meeting with her crew, discussing her current state and other future upcomings in her career, but she slept over, again. Her recent comeback has been filling up her whole schedule and she didn't have any free time whatsoever, which made the female soloist frustrated at the fact that she couldn't even take small rests in between her performances, and it has become a problem.
She brushed past Jimin, who was walking towards her, looking at her with worried eyes. Jerking off his hand away from her shoulder, she muttered a quick sorry before bolting to the meeting room. "You're late, El!" Jimin exclaims from the other side of the hall, completely unbothered by her greeting.
Elena panted, holding her knees for support as she slowly turned her head to him, giving him a look, "You don't say." she replies in a dry tone, fixing her posture. An annoyed groan escaped her mouth, a headache beginning to form.
Jeni let out a tired sigh, leaning back against the chair while waiting for the Persian-Korean. "Where is she?" she mumbled under her breath. She yawned and stretched her arms in front of her. Jaehyun flinched at her knuckles cracking and brought his hand up to her arms, pulling them down on the table.
"You tell me, you're the one taking care of her." Jinsol droned, pressing his lips together and giving her friend a bored expression. Tapping his foot, he brought a hand to his face, making tsk sounds, "Why is she so late?" he voiced his thoughts out loud, a frown resting on his face.
The door clicks as it opens and once again as it shuts. There's a soft patter as Elena steps into the room, her footsteps so light. The trio glanced at each other, watching the female with disappointment plastered on their faces. She took off her mask along with her bag, putting it in a corner beside the door before taking a seat next to Jeni, letting her head droop lazily.
Jaehyun checks the clock, clearing his throat, "Care to explain why you're almost an hour late, again?" he leered, crossing his arms in front of his chest. A crimson painted her rosy cheeks and shook her head, "I-I'm sorry, I was sleeping and didn't hear the alarm-"
"This has been the third time, Elaheh! You've missed one of your important meetings lately, you can't keep doing this!" Jaehyun cut her off, his voice becoming louder. Elena flinched, closing her eyes and rubbing her temples, the headache still lingering.
"I-I, um, I'm s-sorry?" she stuttered out, completely speechless. Guilt started to wash over her, making her stomach twist as she listened to Jaehyun and Jeni's scolding. She let her thoughts take over, her mind wandering, making her forget that she's in the room, allowing her brain to take over.
She loves her team without any doubt and she would do anything for them, but lately, things have been tense with everyone ever since the comeback, turning Elena into a money-making machine and plotting her to every variety show there is, and she was tired. It became fun at first, showing up at a few interviews and promoting her album, but it became emotionally and physically draining after getting numerous calls wanting her to promote more. She wanted nothing more than to be in her cozy bed, cuddled up with her boyfriend, and watching Netflix, but she couldn't and she was upset.
"I'm talking to you, Elaheh!" Jaehyun snapped her out of her state, making her gaze divert away from the table towards his figure. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat as she locked her eyes with his, his cold rigid eyes staring down at her, making shivers down her spine.
"Have you not been listening to any of us?" Jeni snarled, pressing her lips together in frustration, turning her chair towards her. Elena frowned at the heavy feeling forming in her chest after her words. "I'm sorry..."
Jeni's eyes widened slightly as she noticed a change in her demeanor. Elena's lips started to tremble and before she could say anything, tears began streaming down her face. She mentally cursed, regretting her words. Her lips pulled downwards into a pout, and her eyes softened, and sighed. "Oh, Ella, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-"
Elena lets out a sob, covering her mouth with her hand. Her breathing became shallow and heavy, almost suffocating her. Tears spilled down like a waterfall and she didn't notice Jinsol getting up from his seat and running over to her, wasting no time in pulling her into a hug.
"Look what you did, you fucking idiots." Jinsol chastised the pair, holding the younger girl into her arms, gently stroking her hair.
"I-I didn't know she was gonna start crying." Jaehyun defended himself, though he felt horrible about making her cry.
"It's okay, Ella, we're very sorry." Jinsol's soft gentle tone filling her ears, making her tears flow faster. "I'm so tired, guys. I-It's so h-hard to keep going when you push me over the edge." she croaked out, her hand clutching his sweater.
Jaehyun furrowed his eyebrows, slowly approaching the duo. "El, that's not what-" Elena vehemently shook her head, cutting him off."Yes, Oppa, you're constantly saying yes to plans without asking me first, and I can't keep doing this anymore. When was the last time I had a break?" She chided with glistening eyes, tears slowly gliding down her cheeks.
Jinsol rubbed her arm in a comforting matter and Jaehyun looked away, staring at the wall beside him, his stomach knotting. He clenched his jaw and pressed his lips with a slight frown. "I'm so sorry, El. I just want you to have the best experience.." he mused, bringing his attention back on the younger female, his eyes glinting with a mix of guilt and worry.
Jeni's jaw slacked, unable to move as she watched Elena breaking down. She shifted her eyes away from her and took a glance at Jaehyun, who was at a loss for words, feeling horrible for his actions. "Ella..."
She brought her chair closer to hers, letting her hand touch her leg. The Persian-Korean sniffed, wiping her tears with the sleeve of her sweater. Jinsol put his chin on top of her head, rocking her back and forth. "I just miss the way we were before, you know? Before I became this big. We always did things together and told each other everything. Now, I just don't feel the same anymore. All of you are busy and making sure I'm booked and working on my schedule." she lamented with a shaky sigh. She looked at Jaehyun, her heart clenching watching him gripping the arms of his chair, noticing his shoulder stiffening.
He pushed his chair aside and kneeled in front of Elena, his soft and genuine eyes she grew to love, gazing into her. He put his hand on hers and she instinctively put her own hand on top of it. "I never wanted to hurt you, that was never my intention, Ella," he spoke in a soft tone, his thumb caressing her hand.
"You've been breaking numerous records and showing the world what you're capable of, and I'm so damn proud of you because you deserve the world, kid. You've always been shining, wandering around, and bringing light to everyone in the room, and that's what the world needs; they need you." Jaehyun expressed, smiling at the younger girl who he sees as his own daughter.
Swallowing a lump in her throat, she looked down at their intertwined hands. She was unable to respond verbally, so she gave a nod, letting her heart decide her actions. A tear fell from her eye and before she could have the chance to wipe it away, Jaehyun reached up and placed his hand on the side of her face, using his thumb to wipe the tear away. "I guess I just became so happy and proud of your achievements that I wanted to give you more opportunities to blossom even more, but that's not the right way to do it, and I'm very sorry, Elaheh," he admitted, caressing her cheek, making her close the distance between them as she started to wrap her arms around his neck, holding him tight.
He let out a deep laugh, letting his arms hug her small figure, one of his hands stroking her hair. "You're the best manager I could've ever asked for, Oppa," she mumbled onto his chest, but enough for him to hear. His heart fluttered and kissed her forehead, "And I have the best team I could've ever asked for, kid."
Jeni and Jinsol took a quick look at each other before sharing a smile. The pair made hesitant moves, not wanting to interrupt their moment, but Jinsol cleared her throat, "You're forgetting us, guys."
Elena pulled away, letting out a soft laugh, "Get in here!" Jeni smiled softly before running towards the pair, Jinsol hot in her heels. Their arms wrapped around them, squeezing them tight, letting their body melt into each other.
With relaxed shoulders, her tight knots ceased in her chest and she could finally breathe, allowing her body to loosen up. She smiled into Jaehyun's chest, her hands around Jeni and Jinsol as she sighed in pleasure. "I love you, guys, so much."
